ON-CAMERA ART
Murder, She Wrote
Jessica's
First Bookcover
Working
at Universal City, in mid 1984, I was asked to produce art for an
on-screen book cover to be used in the pilot episode of "Murder, She Wrote".
The name
of the book was: "The Corpse Danced at Midnight" and
these are four versions of the cover which I explored. I don't remember
who chose the upper right one. but I then (unknowingly crossing union lines)
created the painting as well as designed the cover layout & type-specs.
And this was the
result.
Some
trivia for you,...the logo of the publisher, 'Coventry House', seen here,
is actually a front elevation of Universal's "Best Little Whorehouse in
Texas" house.
And a couple
of closer looks.
